Good morning. Got up this morning early for some reason, and decided to listen to J Dilla's "Donuts". The album, a collection of short ship-hop instumentals, released only a few days before his death and created while in the hospital, serves as a musical museum of all the themes and tunes that make Dilla's work as memorable as ever. No track on the album serves over two minutes (save for one track, "Workinonit") and can be knocked out in one sitting easily, with it not clocking over 50 minutes in scope. All 31 tracks pack a minisule powerful punch and paint a very nice cartoony, triumphant picture. Anyone a fan of The Avalanches or DJ Shadow (or have a very short attention span) would dig this album heavily.
